Cheltenham Festival 2027 Antepost Early Prices

The 2026 Cheltenham Festival is in the books, and as ever, for many of the big races, we have 2027 prices already on offer.

I don’t think this was a vintage year for seeing horses win and instantly backing them for the following year, and much of that is because it’s been the most competitive Cheltenham for many years, in my opinion at least.

But despite that, here’s a look at some of the most likely candidates from horses that won this year and could be back next year.

Lossiemouth 2027 Champion Hurdle

She’s won at the Cheltenham Festival for the past four seasons now, clearly loves it here, and I don’t see any reason why they’d move back from the Champion Hurdle to the Mares’ Hurdle after what she did.

I’m not sure any of the novice winners this year look destined for two-mile supremacy. I don’t think we’ll see Sir Gino back, and that all leaves me thinking the race next year won’t be any stronger than this year’s. She won that, and I think she can win again.

Old Park Star 2027 Arkle Chase

The demise of the two-and-a-half-mile Grade One novice chase has hampered Nicky Henderson since it was taken away. I think he would definitely have preferred Lulamba there this year, and looking forward, it’s definitely where Old Park Star would have been aimed next season.

But it does make betting easier for punters trying to pick out a long-term target. I don’t think Henderson would take him all the way up to three miles as a novice. Jango Baie is proof that he’ll keep horses at the shorter trip until they move into open company.

Old Park Star is built to be a chaser. Both his previous trainers think he’s still maturing and won’t come into his own for another year or two, and I couldn’t agree more.

He’ll need every yard of the two-mile trip next year, but I can see him replicating Jango Baie from 2025 and winning the Arkle, despite the trip being nowhere near enough. I think he’s that good.

The Mourne Rambler 2027 Supreme Novices’ Hurdle

The bumper is sometimes a tough race to try and work out, but this year, I thought the bumper winner The Mourne Rambler was really impressive. A horse I was excited to see, Colin Keane rode The Mourne Rambler brilliantly, and he came up the hill in really good style.

With just the one rules run before this, and one in the point-to-point field, there’s a lot to come, and the summer should be beneficial for him as he grows.

You can often find yourself trying to find the horses staying on in the bumper, or those given an easy ride, but I think this year is a simple year. The best horse in the race won and is worthy of following because there’s plenty more to come from him.

Gaelic Warrior 2027 Cheltenham Gold Cup

willie mullins holding the cheltenham gold cupI don’t think I’ve ever seen a Gold Cup winner come up to the final fence on the bridle. Gaelic Warrior did exactly that in what was a monster performance by him to land this year’s crown.

Doubts over whether he would truly stay the trip or not have firmly been put to bed, and you have to think that he’ll be the number one Willie Mullins horse for next season’s renewal, unless something takes a massive step forward.

It’s no surprise to see him as the favourite for next year, and the horse he’s just beaten with ease, Jango Baie, is the second favourite. He’d have to improve plenty to turn the form around, assuming we see the same Gaelic Warrior next year.
